Example 2: Disc under Distributed Load

General
-
Distributed load is applied to a metal disc with its peripheral fixed.
-
The deformation, the displacement distribution, and the stress distribution are solved.
-
Unless specified in the list below, the default conditions will be applied.

Model
The disc is a low-height cylindrical solid body. The material is copper.
Distributed load boundary condition is applied on the top face. The edge topology around the bottom face is fixed in Z direction.

Boundary Conditions
The value of the distributed load is set such that a total of 10 kgf is applied to the top face of the disc.
Face area: (23.5/2)2x3.14=433.5 mm2
Total load: 10x9.8 = 98 N
Distributed load: total load / tip area = 2.26x105 N/m2 (=Pa)

Results
The contour diagram shows the Z displacement.

The center area is sinking approximately 7 um.
The vectors of the stress are shown below.

The upper side is getting the tensile stress, whereas the lower side is getting the compressive stress.
The external force and reactive force are listed in the table below.

The reactive force at FIX is a total of 98 [N] in +Z direction.
The external force at LOAD is a total of 98 [N] in -Z direction.
