Example 23: Toroidal Coil

General

  • The magnetic field generated by a toroidal coil is analyzed.

  • The vectors of the magnetic field and the magnetic flux density are solved.

  • Unless specified in the list below, the default conditions will be applied.

  • Obtain this session's project file. (Right-click and choose 'Save link as')

  • Results will vary depending on Femtet version and the PC environment.

  •

  • The coil is created from [Macro Sample] #3 that is on Murata Software’s website.

Model

Coil (Cur) is wound on the ferrite core (Ferrite).

The coil's form is given by the following equations.

x = ( A*sin(t*N) + B ) * cos(t)
y = ( A*sin(t*N) + B ) * sin(t)
z = A*cos(t*N)
A: Radius of the coil
B: Radius of the torus (Intermediate value between the outer and inner radiuses)
N: Number of turns of coil
t: Angle
