Example 7: Thermal Load and Mechanical Strain

General

  • A piezoelectric device is thermally loaded. The resulting mechanical strain generates voltage on a floating electrode. This temperature sensor is analyzed.
     

  • The deformation and the generated electric potential are solved.
     

  • Unless specified in the list below, the default conditions will be applied.
     

  • Obtain this session's project file. (Right-click and choose 'Save link as')


  • Results will vary depending on Femtet version and the PC environment.

Model

A piezoelectric plate is placed on an aluminum plate. The bottom face of the piezoelectric plate is fixed at 0 [V]. The top face is set with the [Floating Electrode] boundary condition.

The device is deformed due to the difference in coefficients of linear thermal expansion.

 

To see the electric potential generated on the floating electrode, go to [Results] tab
