Convert to Sheet Body

Convert multiple wire bodies to a single sheet body.

The wire bodies need to be contacting, crossing or overlapping each other and form a closed area.

It is not allowed to have two or more closed areas for the conversion.

Procedure

  1. On the [Model] tab, go to



    and click ▼ at the side of [Convert Wire Body] .

    Select [Convert to Sheet Body] on the sub menu.

    (Alternatively, right click the mouse. On the appearing menu, select     [Convert]-[Convert to Sheet Body].)

  • To keep the original sheet body, click ▼ at the side of [Convert Wire Body],
    on the appearing submenu, click [Convert to Sheet Body (keep original body)].

    (Alternatively, right click the mouse. On the appearing menu, select [Convert]-[Convert to Sheet Body (keep original body)].)

 

 

  1. Select the wire bodies to convert.

     

  2. There are two ways to select multiple objects.
    To select altogether, specify the area for selection by left clicking and dragging the mouse. The body will be selected if a portion of it is in the area.
    To select one by one, select the first one by left click and keep on left clicking while pressing the <Ctrl> key.
     

 

  1. Click in the parameter input dialog box.

 

  1. A sheet body will be formed from the selected wire bodies.

Conversion Failure

The conversion might fail if minute wire bodies exist. Those bodies are occasionally produced as a result of CAD data import.

In such a case, locate them and try one of the methods below.

The problem may be solved.

Method 1

  1. On the [Model] tab, go to



    and click [Select Vertex] on the drop-down list at .

 

 

  1. Select the problematic wire body and check whether minute wire bodies exist around there.

     

  2. In the right figure, the number of selected vertices are 4 as indicated at the right bottom corner of the modeling window, which is in fact supposed to be 2.
    That means there exists a minute wire body.
     

 

  1. Locate the minute wire body and remove it. Then retry the conversion.

 

Method 2

  1. You will be able to locate minute wire bodies on the parameter input dialog box.

 

  1. All the wire bodies subjected to conversion are listed in the parameter input dialog box.

     

  2. If you select one there, it will be
    highlighted on the modeling window.
    By studying it,
    you can judge whether it is a minute wire body or not.
     

 

  1. Once located, remove it by pressing the X button in the dialog box.
    Then retry the conversion.
