Estimation of Equivalent-Circuit Parameters Using Electromagnetic-Wave Analysis

GeneralThe equivalent-circuit parameters are estimated from the S-parameters calculated in Electromagnetic-Wave Analysis Example 18.
ModelThe model used in Electromagnetic-Wave Analysis Example 18 is employed.
To extract the characteristics of the capacitor section, the characteristics of the microstrip line are removed by de-embedding.
Then, assuming the circuit configuration of the model, the impedance is calculated from the S-parameters.
ResultsThe equivalent series resistance (ESR) and equivalent series capacitance (ESC) are calculated. The ESC value is close to the equivalent capacitance obtained from electrostatic-field analysis, confirming good agreement between the two results.
