Coefficient of Forced Convection

Coefficient of Local Heat Transfer

When the wind is blown in parallel to the surface of the object at the speed of v[m/s], the coefficient of heat transfer h[W/m2/deg] is calculated in the expression below where x[m] is the distance to the windward point.

The coefficient of heat transfer is in proportion to the wind speed.

It is in reverse proportion to the distance from the windward.

The factor 1.93 is for the air.

Simulation in the [Simple Fluid-Thermal Analysis] is based on this expression.

Coefficient of Average Heat Transfer

The coefficient of average heat transfer of the length L[m] parallel to the direction of the wind speed v[m/s] is calculated in the expression below.

For the boundary condition of [Heat transfer: convection], h is calculated automatically by specifying wind speed v and typical length L.

In the case of non-air fluids such as water, enter the correction factor for 3.86 in [Correction factor for Convections in Thermal Analysis].
