  • Hysteresis loss in rotation and anomalous eddy current loss cannot be calculated.
    Anomalous eddy current loss: The loss by minute eddy current which is generated on and near the magnetic wall. It is generated apart from the ordinary eddy current loss due to the shift of magnetic wall.

Terminology

  • Induced current (Eddy current)
    The current generated by the electromagnetic induction in the AC magnetic field.
    If the current is generated with a spiral shape in the metal plate, it is called eddy current.
    The loss by the induced current becomes larger in proportion to the frequency.

  • Hysteresis loss
    The energy consumed in the magnetic material (such as iron core) by the changing magnetic direction due to the presence of the alternating magnetic field.
    It is proportional to the area inside the B-H curve (hysteresis loop).

  • Iron Loss
    The energy consumed in the coil having magnetic core (such as iron core) due to the physical properties of the core
    Iron loss is the sum of the eddy current loss and the hysteresis loss.
