A cylindrical component is pushed in to the retainer.
Balanced contact forces are solved.
A symmetric quarter model consisted of retainer, cylindrical compnent, and pushing body is used.
Analysis is executed in two steps.
At step 1, the cylindrical component and the pushing body are strongly connected by spring connection. Foraced displacement applied to the pushing body pushes the cylindrical component into the dents of the retainer.
At step 2, spring constant is gradually reduced to zero. Eventually, the cylindrical component and the retainer are in the state of balanced contact forces.
Pressures on the contact faces in steps 1 and 2 show the change in balance of the contact forces.
Contour diagram of the maximum principal stress shows the relaxed tensile stress in step 2.
