Application110 Contact Analysis of Compressed O-Ring

General
The O-ring compressed with upper and lower metal parts is subjected to pressure from the inner side. The displacement and pressure at the face in contact are analyzed.

Analysis Model
For the convergence of calculation, an axisymmetric model is used for analysis. The pressure is partially applied to the body of O-ring that has been meshed in advance based on the analysis result with no pressure applied. In Step 1, compress the O-ring with upper and lower metal parts, and in Step 2, set the weight function of a boundary condition so as to apply pressure from the inner side.

Result
It is observed that the change in the shape of O-ring and surface pressure generated at the face in contact before and after the application of pressure.
