Application75 Press-Fit Analysis

A shaft is inserted tightly into a slightly smaller hole in another part.
The shaft is metal and the part with a hole is resin.
Mating/un-mating analysis is conducted as well.

【Analysis Model】
For the purpose of stable analysis and faster calculation, a symmetric model is used.
A contactor boundary condition is set to the resin body and a contactee boundary condition is set to the metal shaft.
The two planes of symmetry are applied symmetric boundary condition.

The results with and without friction are compared.
With friction, the press-fit force increases in proportion to the insertion distance. Without friction, the press-fit force is stable regardless of the insertion distance.
