Application96 Contact Analysis of Gears

General:
The example shows contact analysis of gears rotating under constant torque.

Analysis Model:
The torque load is set to the left gear and the rotational displacement is set to the right gear.
The contact face and spring connection boundaries are set to contact portions of the gears.
In Step 1, torque is applied to the left gear with the right gear fixed and then the spring constant is gradually reduced to form a stable contact.
In Step 2, the transition of the contact state by the rotational displacements is analyzed.

Result:
The analysis shows that the contact portions move as the gears rotate, and the torque transmitted to the right gear is almost constant.
