Application101 Screw Tightening Analysis

General:
This example analyzes how axial force is generated by initial strain.

Analysis Model:
The model includes a base plate, a mounting plate, and a screw.
The tightening of the screw along the through hole of the mounting plate generates an axial force.

Result:
The displacement diagram shows the periphery of the mounting plate is bent due to screw tightening.
The stress distribution diagram shows tensile stress is concentrated at the tightened screw to generate compressive stress in the mounting plate around the screw. Integrating the tensile stress across the cross-section of the tightened screw results in axial force.
