Application73 Ultrasonic Testing of Defect

Acoustic analysis is applied to simulate the ultrasonic test.

"The defect inside an object such as pipe can be detected by the ultrasonic test.
The ultrasonic waves generated by prober propagate in the object and return to the prober from the other side of the object. If there is a defective area in the object, the waves reflected at the defect returns to the prober earlier Thant those from the other side of the object. The echo is represented by the waveform to check the existence and location of the defect.
The analysis model is 200mm in length and the defective area is located at 100mm from the edge. The waves travel at the speed of 340m/s and return to the prober from the defect in about 600usec. The result matches the travelling time of about 600usec for the distance of 200mm."
