Electromagnetic Analysis Tab

Analysis conditions for the electromagnetic analysis are set on this tab. The solver is Hertz.

It is in the [Analysis Condition Setting] dialog box. See also [How to Set Analysis Condition].

Setting Item

Notes

Analysis Types

Waveguide analysis

Solves the propagation frequency, the propagation constant and the characteristic impedance.

Resonant analysis

Solves the electric resonance.

Harmonic analysis

Solves the frequency response to the sinusoidal power, the voltage (AC), and the current (AC).

  • If the analysis space is axisymmetric, the analysis type will be resonant analysis automatically.

  • If [Convert to TDR] is used, the data format of S-parameters will be converted to TDR automatically.

Transient analysis

Solves the time response to the time-dependent input items (power, voltage, and current).

Electromagnetic-transient analysis is available in an optional package.

  • If [Input at each port] is set off, the input is done at all ports at the same time.
The input waveform is defined for each port in the boundary condition setting.
The different waveform can be set for each port.

  • If [Input at each port] is set on, the input at each port is done independently.
The same waveform is used for all ports. The waveform is specified in the analysis condition setting.
S-parameters and TDR (if the broadband pulse is not used) will be output.

Transverse Mode

Available if both of the following conditions are met.

- Analysis type is resonant analysis

- Analysis space is 2D analysis or axisymmetric analysis

The modes listed below are computable.

Analysis Space

Notes

TM

2D

TMm0p mode:
Ex = Ez = Hy = 0, while Ey, Hx and Hx have non-zero values.
The cavity and the electromagnetic field are uniform in the y direction.

Axisymmetric

TM0np mode:
Eθ = Hr = Hz =0, while Er, Ez and Hθ are non-zero.
The cavity and the electromagnetic field are uniform in the θ direction.

TE

2D

TEm0p mode:
Hx = Hz = Ey = 0, while Hy,Ex and Ez are non-zero.
The cavity and the electromagnetic field are uniform in the y direction.

Axisymmetric

TE0np mode:
Hθ = Er = Ez = 0, while Hr,Hz and Eθ are non-zero.
The cavity and the electromagnetic field are uniform in the θ direction.

  • If the analysis space is 3D, any transverse modes are computable. It is not necessary to specify the mode.
